To all TAD students, parents and interested parties,

In 2013 The Art Department had to change domain names from '' to '' to distance itself from Jason Manley. Jason Manley illegally broke into TAD servers, email addresses, stole the domain name and all sensitive passwords, inhibiting our ability to conduct honest business.

Mr. Manley is now using our original domain name as a venue to promote misinformation designed to misdirect students and concerned parties to emails that only he has access to. The website is not a true representative of TAD. The emails ostensibly listed as being directed to John English or Jenny LeCompte are actually directed to Jason Manley and NOT John English. This is why you have not heard back about any inquiries you may have made to those addresses. This is an intentional misrepresentation designed to deceive those with honest inquiries.

Our actual contacts are:

We are in the process of seeking answers and a solution for a teach-out agreement and refunds.

Students and Faculty,

It is with great disappointment and regret that I must announce the closing of classes at The Art Department as of the end of the Spring 2014 semester. The struggles that we have dealt with over the past two years have overwhelmed our resources to the point that the viability of The Art Department is no longer a reality. I have made every effort to salvage the program, protect the students, and provide continuing jobs for the staff and faculty. I have personally funded or arranged for funding of nearly $1.5 million over the past two years to keep The Art Department viable. Unfortunately, we have come to the point where I can no longer continue to contribute funds to keep The Art Department alive.

The Art Department was founded with the goal of providing the best online art education in the world. The education and opportunity offered to our students has been tremendous and I am very proud of what we have created. The co-owner of The Art Department, Jason Manley, however, has engaged in behavior that has, in my opinion, made it impossible for me to continue to put time and money into The Art Department.

In late 2012 and early 2013, because of Mr. Manley's conduct, the Board of Managers of The Art Department voted to remove Mr. Manley from the classroom, forbid him from having any relations with the students, remove him from any managerial role, suspend him as president, and censure him for sexual improprieties with employees.

Mr. Manley has contributed no funds to support The Art Department over the past several years.  My company, The Illustration Academy, which is the other co-owner of The Art Department, has sued Mr. Manley on behalf of The Art Department to recover hundreds of thousands of dollars that it contends Mr. Manley owes to The Art Department.  Click Here for the full Petition.

I have opened a new entity, Art Connection Academy.  We are in the process of developing a program to provide art education that we hope may be a way to provide a way to continue the art education of students presently enrolled in The Art Department.  I will provide further information about this program in the near future.
